Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

The Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery has been functioning since the inception of this prestigious institution in 2002 under Dr. NTR University of health sciences & recognized by Dental Council of India. The department maintains an impressionable amalgamation of diagnostic, treatment and research activities. The students here are educated and trained to practice efficient dental surgery by developing a good rapport with patients and giving good diagnosis using state of art materials and techniques. Post graduate training programme was started in 2008 with intake of two post graduate students every year.

The department is well equipped with latest surgical equipment like stryker surgical rotary instrument, defibrillator, fiber optic asisted surgical equipmant, platting kits, implant system, and other newer surgical instruments to operate and manage all kinds maxillofacial surgery patients.

Histopathology lab with facilities for routine and special Histochemical stains; Immunohistochemical research laboratory, spectrophotometry and clinical hematological laboratory, facilities for cytology and bacterial smear staining are also available.

Department boasts of eminent, dedicated and competent teachers carrying out education, research programmes and are often invited as resource personnel at state, National and International symposiums.

The department is able headed by Dr. K.Padmarayalu with 13years of teaching and surgical experience .the department holds Dr.Y.Ramakrishna and Dr.Kishore moturi as professors, Dr.Ramakrishna Raju as associate professor and Dr.S.R.S.Reddy G., Dr.shivaji Raju U. and Dr.Swetha V. as senior lecturers.

The staff and students participate in research work, seminars, workshop and local, state, national and International conferences. We have publications to our credit.

The overall efficiency of the department is reflected in annual undergraduate success rates that has been consistently around 90%.

Goals of the Department

-The ultimate goal of the department is to ensure optimal care to patients through accurate diagnosis and surgical amnagement of diseases of oral and maxillofacial region.
-To provide extensive educational programme for under graduates in oral Anatomy, Oral physiology, Oral Pathology and to provide fundamentals of history taking, examination, establishing diagnosis and providding medical and sugical treatment to the patients as required.
-To proficiently train the postgraduates to acquire highest skill of surgery in orofacial region including esthetic zones utilizing, when required, advanced methods like lasers, oscillating saw, cautery, etc.
-To assist the students in acquiring accurate diagnostic, surgical and emergency management skills that would make them excel as teachers and leaders in the speciality.
-To provide excellent patient care with standard global protocols.
-To develop evidence based treatment protocols for maxillofacial problems.
-To emphasise on research and innovations.
