Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology

                       The Department of oral pathology has been functioning since the inception of this prestigious institution in2002 under Dr. NTR University of health sciences & recognized by Dental Council of India.  The department maintains an impressionable amalgamation of scientific and research activities. The students here are educated and trained to practice efficient dentistry by developing a good rapport with patients and giving good diagnosis using state of art materials and techniques. Post graduate training programme was started in 2009 with intake of three post graduate students every year.

The department is well equipped with latest research equipment like BX51 Olympus research microscope, with additional attachments of Phase contrast, polarizing, Darkfield, Brightfield and fluorescent microscopy, Stereo zoom microscope, Semi automatic tissue microtome, Automatic paraffin embedding station with cold plate attachment, and Automatic tissue processor.

 Histopathology lab with facilities for routine and special Histochemical stains; Immunohistochemical research laboratory, spectrophotometry and clinical hematological laboratory, facilities for cytology and bacterial smear staining are also available.

 Department boasts of eminent, dedicated and competent teachers carrying out education, research programmes and are often invited as resource personnel at state, National and International symposiums.

The department is able headed by Dr. C.R. Ramachandran with 25 years of teaching & research experience and has been a Ph.D Guide at Annamalai university. Dr. T.R.Saraswathi, an oral pathologist of great repute of 26 years of teaching & research experience and Ph.D Guide at Dr.M.G.R Medical University is currently working as a professor.

The staff and students participate in research work, seminars, workshop and local, state, national and International conferences. We have a number of publications to our credit. 

The overall efficiency of the department is reflected in annual undergraduate success rates that has been consistently around 90%.
