Department of Public Health Dentistry

Public health dentistry is a specialized branch of dentistry which deals with promoting oral health and preventing oral disease at all levels, on community basis. It aims to achieve 'HEALTH FOR ALL', irrespective of the individual's social status, race, religion and ethnicity through organized community efforts. We believe the key to ultimate oral health lies in educating and motivating people and bringing positive social change. To achieve the same our department conducts regular check up and screening camps at various places in and around Bhimavarm, which intend not only to treat the people but also to educate and motivate them. We also have a satellite clinic at Manchalli, and regular camps are conducted at Undi PHC.

In department the students are trained and made proficient to face the community and bring about behavioral and social change. They are exposed to the field work by means of field visits (PHC, Water Purification plant and Orphanage), screening camps, treatment camp and field surveys.

The department faculty takes immense interest in the students' activity and their progress apart from being dedicated towards community service. Research activities are encouraged pertaining to perk up health of the community.

The highlight of the department is a well equipped mobile van and an educative museum.

'The connection and relationship with the community that develops from the community service, adds an invaluable layer of education'.
